Dukan Diet

So I've been reading a lot about the Dukan diet and after weeks of deliberation I've decided to give it a go.

Basically this diet is split into four phases but right now I'm focusing on each phase as I go.

The first phase is the Attack Phase which lasts for 7-10 days. Here the main rule is to consume pure proteins and drink a lot of water, tea and diet soda (optional). Water is a very vital component of this process as it flushes out the toxins from the system.

The Attack Phase allows foods like skimmed milk, fat free yogurt, lean meats like chicken breast, lean pork and lean parts of red meat except sheep (have no idea why).

I've decided that it wouldn't hurt to give it a try so I've decided to do this from Monday, the 21st September 2015 and see how it goes.

So far I've been able to minimize my intake of white rice and bread. Seems to be yielding positive results as my weight has been much more stable.

Will keep you posted as I embark on this journey.

Any of you tried the Dukan diet? How did it work for you?

Keep me posted y'all.

Cheers.

Warrior Diet Day 5

Wow! It's been sooooooo very long since I last posted. I guess the stresses of the real world has made it impossible for me to journal the chronicles of my weight loss attempts since the beginning of the year.

Well, let's see if I can summarize all that has been happening in the last five months.

Firstly, I have gained weight. Not just one or two pounds weight but real weight. We are looking at almost 38 pounds of extra weight. Last week I was the heaviest I have ever been since the end of 2009; which is 238lbs. Ugh! I stood on the scale and was too ashamed to cry. After all, what the tears be for? For not eating right, or for not trying to find alternative ways to exercise since the worsening power crises has made it impossible for me to rely on the elliptical?

Anyhow, I got myself up and decided to do something about it. Better late than never - right? My first line of action, try to lose as many pounds as I can and get to 198lbs as soon as I can.

How am I doing this? Simple! I'm starting with the Warrior Diet. I think I need to discipline myself first and re-frame my relationship with food before getting into serious exercising.

There is so much literature on the diet but I'm doing it in the simplest way possible; I try to avoid food during the day or take green tea and water when I feel slightly hungry and, take my meal in the evening. I try to incorporate a lot of veggies and protein before adding carbs. I also try to eat my daily calorie allotment of 1200 calories. I even get to take a snack afterwards since I have saved up all my calories from the day.

Today is Day 5 since I started and I am happy to say that it seems to be working gradually.

Weighed in at 238lbs on Monday and I'm currently 234.5lbs, meaning that I have lost 3.5lbs in five days. I know it may be water weight but, it is at least giving me the motivation to keep it up.

Will try my best to keep you updated on my weekly progress. I'm hoping to do the Warrior Diet throughout the month of June and maybe, based on how I far at the end of the month, I may continue this for an additional month or two.

Any of you tried the Warrior Diet? Please share your thoughts or experiences.

Starting on a Good Note....

So, I woke up at 4:30am this morning determined to continue my exercise challenge for the year. I'm proud to say that I was able to do 60 minutes on the elliptical. Yayy!

Now, TOM has been very bad to me so I took a pineapple/yoghurt smoothie with a very spicy pastry :(. I know I shouldn't be taking pastry but I promised to burn that extra 300 calories tonight; through exercise or skipping dinner.

Will post pictures of lunch later...

Cheerio!

Getting Back To Where I Left Off....

After a year of working at a fun but most often stressful job, eating junk at late hours and gaining back kilos that I'm ashamed to write here, I figured it was time I got extra serious about dropping this weight once and for all.

My approach this year is quite simple. Moderation. The key word here is to have whatever I want, as long as I am eating in moderation and making the amount of calories I'm entitled to daily.

I'm exercising too. I do walks and the elliptical as much as I can. Eventually, I will be at a steady pace of exercising on a daily basis too.

I got a Fitbit Flex which has been aiding me with increasing my movement throughout the day. Will share that in another post.

Wish me luck as we try to kick the weight off this year.

Cheers.
